Choosing a Playstyle in Rebel Galaxy Outlaw

August 9, 2019

You’re rough, you’re tough, you’re a Space Master Of Old.

Or not.

That’s OK!  We’ve got choices for every level of proficiency in Rebel Galaxy Outlaw.  Players will choose their preferred playstyle at the start of the game, and it cannot be changed midway, so be sure to consider your options before diving into Juno’s tale – but you’ll know pretty quickly if things are clicking for you!

No matter what playstyle you choose, difficulty remains the same – enemies don’t get harder, your ship doesn’t blown up in fewer hits; this is strictly about how YOU want to play the game and what challenges you want to tackle.

Oh, and if you haven’t already picked up the game now’s the perfect time!

NORMAL

This is the playstyle we recommend most players choose – we think this makes the game enjoyable regardless of skill level.

You’ll start the game with the following gear:

*Ranger LS 31 Colour Radar – red is enemies, blue is allies.  Pretty simple right?

*Combat Laser, HS Launcher – pew pew pew!

*Plastine Armour, Shield Generator I – they suck, but it’s better than nothing.

*Afterburner – nroom.

*4000 Credits

*First person view (cockpit) and third person view (outside and above ship) can be toggled at will.

VETERAN

This is the playstyle we expect veteran space game players to choose – you’re gonna have to claw your way out of a much leaner start.  Enjoy the challenge of earning everything?  This is for you.

You’ll start the game with the following gear:

*Optimus Mk2 Black and White Radar.  Friend? Foe? No idea!  Gotta upgrade this puppy before you’ll know.

*Utility Laser – pew pew?

*Plastine Armour, Shield Generator I – they suck, but it’s better than nothing.

*4000 Credits

*First person view (cockpit) and third person view (outside and above ship) can be toggled at will.

SIM

Cut your teeth as a wee babe playing Flight Sims?  Own all the HOTAS?  This mode is for you…though we recommend it strictly for those looking for a much harder game, probably your second play-through.

You’ll start the game with the same gear as Veteran:

*Optimus Mk2 Black and White Radar.  Friend? Foe? No idea!  Gotta upgrade this puppy before you’ll know.

*Utility Laser – pew pew?

*Plastine Armour, Shield Generator I – they suck, but it’s better than nothing.

*4000 Credits

*You’ll also be locked to first person / cockpit view only.

*Aim assist is not available in this mode.

OLD SCHOOL

You’re not old, you’re old school.  There’s an important difference.  If you finished the game already once,  this mode is for you…though we recommend it strictly for those looking for a much MUCH harder game.

*Autopursuit (sometimes referred to as Flight Assist) is not available in this mode.
